Racers prepping for the 2023 U.S. Majors Tour and Hoosier Racing Tire Super Tour should add an item to their checklist this week: Securing their race car number. Number registration for the U.S. Majors Tour and Hoosier Super Tour opens on Nov. 1, 2022, at 9 am CDT, allowing racers to secure a single or two-digit car number of their choosing for the specific Conference they plan to compete in (minus the numeral “1,” which is reserved for the current SCCA National Champions in each class).
Those looking to race in more than one of the six Conferences that constitute the U.S. Majors Tour can reserve a three-digit car number beginning with the number “1,” locking in their car number for all Conferences.
While racers are free to compete in the U.S. Majors Tour and Hoosier Super Tour without reserving a car number, locking in a number helps everybody, as drivers can commit to a graphics package that is good looking and legible, with little fear of having to change numbers for certain events. Well thought out race car graphics also helps Timing and Scoring, Grid, and others with vehicle identification.
Series registration for a single Conference is $50, which includes a single or two-digit number of their choosing. A second Conference number reservation can be added for an additional $50. For $150, a number can be reserved that will span all six Conferences in the U.S. Majors Tour, with the caveat that Tour-wide numbers must be three digits and begin with a “1.”
Benefits to reserving a number extend beyond the car, as those who reserve a number will receive a $25 coupon for merchandise at SCCAGear.com for each $50 Conference reservation, or one $50 coupon for a three-digit $150 series registration.
Members making number reservations will also be mailed series decals, plus drivers will receive a special SCCA U.S. Majors Tour and Hoosier Super Tour branded hard card.
What Else Do I Need to Know?
While Majors number reservations hold your car number, there are exceptions. Number reservations must be made at least 14 days prior to event registration. Also, dual-Conference events with duplicate number requests will give the reserved number to the driver who registered for the event first.
Drivers with a 2022 U.S. Majors Tour series registration will have until Nov. 9 at 9 a.m. CST to reserve their Conference number for 2023. At that time, unreserved numbers will be released into the general pool.
